Hello Friends!

It’s day 40 of reviveTX! As I prayed through this day, the Dallas Revival in 2007, a 40-day tent revival, immediately came to my mind.

It was 10 years ago this spring. Kyle and I had two-year-old Maya and eight-month-old Nadia. During this time in our lives, TTR wasn’t an official ministry. It was just Kyle and Laura. We were apartment managers on Swiss Avenue. Kyle had graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary and spent a year studying and writing about revival. The Lord allowed his writings to be published and turned into a book.

After a season of prayer and fasting, the Lord gave Kyle instructions to gather the Church of DFW under a tent for prayer, worship and teaching from the Word of God. We gathered for prayer early every morning, and Kyle organized different worship teams along with a different pastor to teach every night.

Truly, it was an act of walking in obedience to the Lord. And the Lord honored this time as the Body of Christ came together. Many testified it was a taste of heaven on earth as we experienced unity in our worship times under a gigantic tent. I know the Lord worked in many hearts during that season and touched many lives. During this time, we simply gathered together; we didn’t go out and share the Gospel.

As I reflected on that season of our lives, which two years later would launch the ministry, Time to Revive, I remember how it was, just Kyle and me. Day by day, the Lord provided faithful volunteers along the way.

Humility, loving others and seeking the Lord for revival was at the center of the 40 days. On the final 40th night, Kyle had everyone under the tent wash each other’s feet as a sign of humility and serving one another in love, just as Christ came to this earth.

The 40-day tent revival was an act of obedience in our life, trusting the Lord’s faithfulness. I know each of us is called to obey the Lord as He nudges and pursues you. I encourage you to walk in the direction He is leading you. Or you will miss out on the fullness the Lord has for you.

Fast forward to the 40th day of reviveTX!

“Your lovingkindness, O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”
- Psalm 36:5

My heart is overwhelmed with snapshots of the Lord’s faithfulness and lovingkindness as we walk reviveTX out for these 50 days! First, there are so many stories of lives changing and of fruit and miracles. Every. Single. Day. You can read more about these stories on Facebook. You can also watch the video testimonies online.

PRAISE THE LORD: The Lord has grown an army to lead the Church in America and equip them to share the love of Jesus

Behind the scenes of reviveTX, a team of missionaries, volunteers and staff give up their lives for the Gospel to go forth here in Texas.

“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
- Matthew 16:25

Throughout the past 40 days, our team has grown spiritually and stretched themselves beyond what they imagined. I asked the team what the Lord is teaching them through reviveTX. Here’s a snapshot of the life changes happening as God works in our hearts while we walk in daily obedience:

-Daily experiencing HIS abounding grace and unmerited favor
-Fear God, not man and new normal
-Crazy – awesome
-Joy unending
-Our Lord provides and makes the old things new
-Taste and see that the Lord is good
-Patient, steady, and do it with JOY
-Joy inexpressible!
-Steadfast….in grace….in provision
-REJOICE. Persevere. Pray. Romans 12:12
-God refining our hearts and causing us to hunger for more
-Help us dig deep
-New levels of surrender and what it means to walk in Christ’s footsteps
-Trust Him on a higher level – “I am faithful to My promises.”

This is in the middle of the battle, and in the middle of laboring for the Gospel. This is in the middle of car wrecks and trips to the hospital, tantrums from kids and cancer diagnosis, funerals and late nights, early mornings, not sleeping in your own bed and missing friends from back home. This is in the middle of baptisms and sound checks, serving and sharing Christ’s love, training and sending out teams.

The more God burns away the things of ourselves, the greater JOY we experience.

This week, one of our MIPS, not even fully funded, but serving endlessly in the purple region, was in a car wreck on the way to early morning team devotions at 6:15am. I received a text to pray for her, then a picture of the totaled vehicle saying she is okay aside from a couple of bruises.

The next picture I received was of the MIP standing with a Bible, talking to a police officer. Instead of dwelling on the accident, she was sharing the Gospel with the police officer, with one of her teammates by her side supporting her.

Isn’t God good?

PRAY: We see the Lord working in ALL things as we fix our eyes upon Him.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28

PRAISE THE LORD: Tuesday, over 100 pastors came together for the third week in a row in unity and prayer!

At the pastors’ meeting, the question was asked, “What position, possessions, pleasures are you willing to give up for the next 10 days?”

Here are some of some of the responses:

-Giving up “being god”
-Control over theology
-The “American Dream”
-Giving up my expectations
-Giving up our “positions”
-Not putting church or personal finances ahead of fulfilling our calling
-Going back to “normal” church schedule

And so today, I ask YOU and MEwhat am I willing to give up for the next 10 days of reviveTX in order to see the Lord MOVE in my life and in the Church?

PRAY: For the CHURCH to come out and take part in reviveTX.

PRAISE THE LORD: Over 6,000 individuals have GONE OUT on teams!

PRAY: For disciple-makers to pair up with new believers.

PRAY: For wisdom as we seek the Lord for His plans for reviveTX beyond the 50 days.

PRAY: For laborers to still JOIN reviveTX from around the country! If you are feeling the nudge to come…just come and JUMP IN! But first, register here.

In closing today, I want to say thank you for praying! Thank you for jumping in! Thank you for joining with our crazy, fun, random reviveTX team! In the words of Paul from Philippians 3:7-8, 10a, 12, let’s PRESS ON:

“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of the Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss, in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him…

That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings…

I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.”

In Christ alone and with love,
Laura Martin
